The MFA Photography Juried Exhibition will be on view at Ashmore Gallery located at 412 MLK Jr. Blvd. Savannah, GA. The exhibition will be on view during the week of SCAD's Silver & Ink with artist reception held on Saturday, April 27.

the submission guidelines below are for the MFA Photography Juried Exhibition only,
which is to be on view at a separate gallery during the week of Silver & Ink.

In addition, only students whom have completed candidacy review and have not graduated are eligible for submission.

JURORS ANNOUNCED


The jurors for the 2013 MFA Exhibition are:



Scott Dietrich and special guest juror Ellen Wallenstein


Ellen Wallenstein is a native New York City photographer who began her career in the 1970s as an assistant to W. Eugene Smith. She earned her B.A. in Art History from SUNY Stony Brook, and a M.F.A. in Photography from Pratt Institute. A longtime Professor of Art, Wallenstein currently teaches photography and book arts at Pratt Institute and The School of Visual Arts. Other professional experiences include Artist-in-Residence at The Creative Center and Photo Archivist for the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation and the Museum of the City of New York. Her personal work has been nominated for the Alfred Eisenstaedt Award for Magazine Photography (2000), the Santa Fe Prize (2011), and was a Critical Mass finalist (2008). She received a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in Photography in 2008. Her most recent project, Respecting My Elders, has been funded by United States Artists.

Wallenstein’s work is in the collections of The Brooklyn Museum; Center for Creative Photography, W.E. Smith Collection; Ellis Island Museum; Museum of the City of New York; Performing Arts Library, Lincoln Center; Humanities Research Center, University of Texas at Austin; Russell Lee Collection, Southwest Texas State University; Southwest University, Georgetown, Texas; Mata and Arthur Jaffe Collection: “Books as Aesthetic Objects,” Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, Florida.



Scott Dietrich received a B.F.A. from the University of Arizona and an M.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He is currently based in Hong Kong where he teaches for the Savannah College of Art and Design. Dietrich has also worked in the museum and commercial field of photography for the past fifteen years. His work often documents and records the creative efforts and traditions of inspired artists, builders and crafts people. In the past five years he has traveled extensively in China and Southeast Asia creating portraits and observations of culture and heritage along the way.
